November 11th, 2008Gadgety Gift Cards
It looks like it’s battle of the gift cards this holiday season. Target has released their holiday gift card in the form of a 1.2 megapixel digital camera. Not to be outdone by Best Buy with their speaker w/ 3.5mm plug-in jack. Both of these are great efforts, so I ordered a $50 (+$1.95 s&h) Target camera/card and a $15 Best Buy speaker/card. Let’s see how they turn out.
UPDATE:
Ordered Target gift card November 10. Received an e-mail 11/13 saying there will be a delay with the order. Received another e-mail 11/14 saying because of a technical issue there will be a delay with the order.
Ordered Best Buy gift card November 11. Received an e-mail same day saying that my shipment is on its way. I guess Best Buy was a bit more prepared.
UPDATE 2:
I received my Best Buy gift card on Saturday, 11/15, I thought that was exceptionally fast. They seemed well prepared or not enough people cared enough to order. The packaging looked great and the quality of the speaker was nice. The only problem is that there is not a way to replace the battery within the card itself without having to tear it apart. You really cant expect much from something like this.
Target on the other hand could have learned a little something from Best Buy about being prepared for something like this, especially with something like a free digital camera. I received another e-mail 11/15 saying there was a delay and then again 11/19. Funny thing is that 2 hours later I receive an e-mail stating that my item has shipped! Let’s see how long it takes to get here.
