An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second orders half a beer. The third, a quarter of a beer. The bartender says “You’re all idiots”, and pours two beers.
It looks like it’s battle of the gift cards this holiday season. Target has released their holiday gift card in the form of a 1.2 megapixel digital camera. Not to be outdone by Best Buy with their speaker w/ 3.5mm plug-in jack. Both of these are great efforts, so I ordered a $50 (+$1.95 s&h) Target camera/card and a $15 Best Buy speaker/card. Let’s see how they turn out.
UPDATE:
Ordered Target gift card November 10. Received an e-mail 11/13 saying there will be a delay with the order. Received another e-mail 11/14 saying because of a technical issue there will be a delay with the order.
Ordered Best Buy gift card November 11. Received an e-mail same day saying that my shipment is on its way. I guess Best Buy was a bit more prepared.
UPDATE 2:
I received my Best Buy gift card on Saturday, 11/15, I thought that was exceptionally fast. They seemed well prepared or not enough people cared enough to order. The packaging looked great and the quality of the speaker was nice. The only problem is that there is not a way to replace the battery within the card itself without having to tear it apart. You really cant expect much from something like this.
Target on the other hand could have learned a little something from Best Buy about being prepared for something like this, especially with something like a free digital camera. I received another e-mail 11/15 saying there was a delay and then again 11/19. Funny thing is that 2 hours later I receive an e-mail stating that my item has shipped! Let’s see how long it takes to get here.
Unemployment is high, cash is low, and I don’t think anyone is going to argue that times are tough. I will make an attempt to compile a list of Friends and Family deals here for your pleasure.

Within the last 2 months I have had to remove about half a dozen instances of malware called XP Antivirus 2009. Other variations include XP Antivirus and XP Antivirus 2008. If properly protected, you really don’t have to worry. Most Joe Six Packs are susceptible because they do not follow the golden rule of email–NEVER OPEN AN ATTACHMENT FROM SOMEONE YOU DO NOT KNOW. As you can see from the screen shot below, my copy of ESET NOD32 Antivirus was able to block two malicious emails from spammers.
FAQ
Q: Why would someone send me an antivirus as malware?
A: Money! Your computer basically gets hijacked until you purchase their software that helps you “remove” unwanted malware and viruses. How ironic.
Q: How do I know if I have this form of malware?
A: 3 main symptoms are: 1) a pop-up on the lower right corner of your task bar (red circle w/ an X) that says your computer is infected, 2) It looks like this when maximized and shows fake viruses insisting that you purchase their software, and 3) after right clicking on your desktop and choosing properties you will be missing several tabs (probably Screen Saver and Settings).
Removal Instructions
1) Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from Majorgeeks. I ran into a problem where I was not able to access the Malwarebytes.org site directly because it was being blocked by this particular piece malicious software.
2) After installing Malwarebytes, you should close all programs, launch Malwarebytes, and run the update.
3) When the update is complete click the “scanner” tab and “perform quick scan.”
4) After your quick scan is complete, click the “show results” button, then click “remove selected.” This should remove all of the malware that was found. You should see a log of the removed files.
5) Exit Malwarebytes and reboot your computer. Hopefully this should do the trick and you should be feeling so fresh and so clean.
Some of you may know that some of us TRIED to create a (mu)stache crew. That lasted a good 2 weeks until everyone decided to shave for whatever reason: job interview, parents made them, last man standing, no “affection” from wife and/or girlfriend, white collar professional, constant dirty looks or being made fun of.
The entire point of growing out the mustaches was to not only bond, but to be funny as hell when you walk into any public place of gathering and you see a table full of Asian men that can hardly grow facial hair with patchy mustaches.
Now this lone soldier is on his quest to actually have every facial hair type. He grows facial hair every winter to see how many types he can cross off his chart of facial hair. Now go, be entertained!
